    A proper and supportive sleeping pillow is just the first step to a refreshing and rejuvenating night's sleep. Did you know that propping yourself with a body support pillow helps to align the rest of your body so that your entire body can relax and repair while sleeping and not just your neck?

    When you sleep on your side, your upper arm will drop forward, pulling your upper body downwards and causing strain in your upper back. By resting your arm on a pillow, your arm doesn't fall forward and your upper back won't be strained.

    The same thing goes with your lower back. If your upper leg isn't supported, then it falls downwards, putting strain on your lower back. Putting the support pillow between the knees prevents this from happening.

    For back sleepers, placing the body support pillow under the back of your knees reduces stress and strain on your lower back.

     

    The cylindrical design of the Body Support pillow provides additional loft (height) when compared to a standard rectangular pillow, and keeps the hulls in place better for less shifting during the night.

      How to use the Body Support Pillow

      For side sleepers:

        • Hug the pillow between your arms and knees (please check measurements to make sure you choose the right size.)
        • Add or remove hulls if necessary to achieve comfortable fit and support.
        • Your upper arm and leg should be totally relaxed.
        • Our hulls do not compress, keeping your arms and legs aligned and comfortably supported during sleep.

      For back sleepers:

       

        • Placing the pillow under the back of your knees reduces stress on your spine.
        • Do the slide test by trying to slide your hand under the small of your back. You want to be able to just slide your hand under.
        • If there is too much space, then the pillow is too low. Add more hulls. If there’s too little space, then the pillow is too high. Remove some hulls.
        • Our hulls do not compress, giving you consistent and comfortable support every night.

      A buckwheat pillow can last for many years with the proper care.

      How to take care of your buckwheat pillow:

      • Protect your pillow from the wear of daily use with a pillowcase.
      • Spot wash your pillow with a damp cloth. Let the pillow dry out in a sunny spot.
      • Keep your pillow dry and well aired. Moisture leads to buckwheat hull degradation.
      • Rejuvenate your pillow by adding new buckwheat hulls.
      • To store buckwheat pillows, place in a clean pillowcase and keep in a dry, well ventilated area.


      Entire buckwheat pillows cannot be put into the washing machine or dryer.

      Soaking buckwheat hulls with water will ruin them, so buckwheat pillows should not be put directly into the washing machine. However, you can empty all the buckwheat hulls from your pillow, and wash the cotton pillow casing on cold and hang it to dry. The buckwheat hulls can be set in the sun to disinfect.       Adjust Your Buckwheat Pillow

      Stomach Sleeper

      Create a flatter pillow by removing hulls to keep your spine aligned.

      Back Sleeper

      Try the pillow as is. If your head and neck are being pushed forward, remove some hulls. If your head is tilted backwards, add some hulls.

      Side Sleeper

      Try the pillow as is. For most side sleepers, the addition of some hulls is often needed. Add 1 cup at a time until your head and neck feel comfortably supported.

      Sleep Better supported

      Buckwheat hulls (or sobakawa) make an ideal pillow filling as they hold their shape extremely well and do not compress and flatten, so your neck is properly supported throughout the night and your body is kept properly aligned.

      No one likes to wake up in the middle of the night to flip their pillow around due to a sweaty head. The 3d shape of buckwheat hulls allow for air circulation so you can sleep cool all night long.
